A day of goodbyes...

The family -- except for Jeremy, who is taking the photo, and Matt, who is somewhere

While mom and dad pack up for departure, Kaitlyn needs a rest...

It is exhausting at Lake James

After our somewhat tearful goodbyes, and breakfast with Uncle Bill, Aunt Carol and Jessica, Susan and I took off for a sightseeing day in Asheville. Before actually sightseeing, we found an REI (there is an REI in Asheville!), and were able to find a new tire for the one we found defective when reassembling my bike at Sally's. Susan had taken the tire off her bike for me to use as she was not biking that day. Now we could get a replacemetnt.

Like most towns in the east, Asheville is old and has been refurbished and energized with galleries, shops, museums, entertainment and many restaurants. Rather than take the trolley tour, Susan wanted to follow the walking tour map, so we did.

Everyone we came across was extremely nice, and helpful. They would smile, say hello and sometimes we would chat a bit about where they, and we, were from. We met several who have lived in the PNW -- Seattle area and in Oregon.

True to its name

A different kind of museum
It was packed to capacity!

Just a "pose". You had to pay to play, but could look around for free
Nostalgic

There are many, many outdoor scuptures along our walking tour.

Susan couldn't resist a dance with the little girl.

There are also lots of sidewalk restaurants and it was hard to pick one.

Enjoying the GFT (green fried tomatoes and egg) sandwiches

A slice of downtown Asheville

After all the walking, I was ready for a tea stop -- and we (as in I) found the perfect place...

Dobra Tearoom ("An Authentic Experience of Tea & Culture"). Susan is not a tea drinker, but she indulged me

A nice ending to a fine day.
