SOTF TWO ISLAND TOUR (DAY 2 San Juan Island)

As a “two Island tour” we would head to San Juan Island on this second day. We were now old hands at getting to and being ready for the ferry. One ferry going (ours) one ferry coming in to port.

We arrive at San Juan Island and a few of our riders meet up with their rented bikes before taking off for our slightly longer and only a tad hillier adventure. Once again groups formed naturally as the ride continued.

Susan and Gina on the island.

We found a picturesque church on this island too. And an interesting ornamental gate.

There was one hill climb that was serious enough to warrant a “bike turn out”! We took advantage of it.

After that climb we had an option to ride (more uphill) to Lime Kiln park or to ride to the Lavender Farm with only just a few little rolling hills. Our group of five (Gina, Darlene, Cammie, Susan and I) chose the Lavender Farm. Another fine lunch stop where we also could buy our lavender vanilla ice cream sandwiches (for dessert).

One of many fine views along bucolic False Bay Road.

We said farewell to the islands for this trip. Our trip coordinator, Darlene, takes a good long look.

Then home for our potluck dinner with so so so so many choices of tasty/delicious food.

Posed for our group shot at camp by the beach.

Gina (from Texas, so she knows) taught a line dance to many of our group. By the end they looked quite good.

The sun performs for us once again, and we say farewell to this day.
