Tea AND bike tour? I think I do that all the time — just ask my bike buddies ;’-). But never starting from an actual tea house or touring to an actual historical site. So, this was right up my alley and I immediately signed up to join three friends for this adventure.
Though Susan chose not to take part in the adventure, she was up for spending the night before, somewhere nearby in the RV. Shocking I know. Through a variety of RV sites (particularly our Peasure Way group) we have learned about “Harvest Hosts”. There is a modest annual membership fee, and membership entitles us to stay free (if you consider purchasing a $33.00 bottle of wine ‘free’ camping) at vineyards, orchards, breweries, farms, etc.. There are hundreds of these places across the country and Susan found Eagle Haven just 0.2 miles from Willowbrook. The hosts were very accommodating and Susan did not mind purchasing the $33 bottle of wine (though perhaps not “required” it is suggested that you purchase something at the host’s facility). The owner of Willowbrook, where we will be tomorrow, stopped in to the tasting room to meet us and we gave her the Susan-tour of the RV!
There are no hookups, water, or bathrooms, so one must be self-contained (we are). It is all about the quiet, serene and bucolic beauty that surrounds us in the vineyard. Well, actually I have not yet found the vineyard, but there is a very large apple orchard ;’-). We set up in the expansive grounds and enjoyed our quiet, private setting.
I fixed dinner (salad) while Susan set the dining area ;’-)
During dinner, we enjoyed viewing the mountains and orchard...
...and an after dinner walk through the orchard to finish out our evening.
